Notes for: Jehan Manigault
"Jehan is the earliest known of the surname Manigault.
The ancient family home in "Limouillet" still stands north of La Rochelle in Charente-Maritime Province. In 1674, Henriette's elder sister, Marie, sold "Limouillet" to a "Brunet", who later sold, or in some manner passed it on to the family "Pozzi". They retained possession of it to about June, 1967 when they were forced by poverty to sell the house to a young couple named Phelipon. Marie (Mrs.) Phelipon was a Clemanceau and the great granddaughter of the famous French statesman of the World War of 1914-1918. The Pozzi family retained a small apartment in the estate for the term of their lives." (Edward Manigault)
