Gerardus, Lambertus Janssen; Dutch socialist

Born March 3, 1859 in Den Haag.
Gerrit was the son of Jannes Janssen (Royal stall master) and Elisabeth Steenbergen (kitchen maid).
Jannes viewed the Royal staff as fraudulent parasites.

On March 16, 1881 Gerardus married Alida van Beek; they had 2 daughters and 2 sons.

From 1885 to 1929 he wrote for various publications about universal state pension and the Socialist Workers Party.
His controversial views were published as Mucius Scaevola and other pseudonyms.
Gerardus, Lambertus was chairman and spokesperson for many labour organizations.

After an illness, G. L. Janssen died September 22, 1932 in Rotterdam.



Peter Arnoldus Janssen; Dutch political activist

Born in 1835, Lente, Eist.
Son of Gerrit Janssen and Cornelia van Raay.
He married Elisabeth Eichholtz.
Political activist, author and spokesperson for early Dutch Labour Movement.
Died in 1916 at Drie Bergen.
