| Personal Notes: |
|
Married Heemstede on 25-11-1896 to Willem Jacobus van AALST Born Lisse 12-12-1870. Occupation: grain merchant & florist.
Father - Johannes van AALST. Mother Petronella VELDHUIZEN. This family departed to California USA Cornelia was a sister of my grandfather Abram. After the second World War they sent parcels containing clothing and other items. As I write this, I can still remember the distinct aroma these parcels had. I can also remember the lumberjackets, brightly coloured and very warm. The family later visited my grandparents however they did not appear to speak Dutch anymore ( which I in retrospect find surprising and we children did not speak any English than apart from the taught words “ How do you do “. |
